More missionaries on the way!

As of Friday, we are able to gather in groups of 100 or less.  We have two zone conferences now scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday.    A caterer who is a member of the Church will prepare box lunches for us.  We have just heard that we will receive 75 missionaries over the next four weeks.  These are missionaries who are from New Zealand and have returned home from their overseas mission and have been temporarily reassigned to our mission.  Some have just finished remote MTC training, so they are just beginning to serve.

We've been having Zoom sacrament programs with our ward the last few weeks.  They are thirty minutes long and consist of music recordings by the Tabernacle Choir and speakers from the congregation.  Today we heard from Brother Murray who shared his story of his conversion to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.   His mother had just passed away at the time and he needed answers to the questions he had as to where her Spirit was and whether he would see her again.  He and his family were able to be taught by the missionaries and he felt a confirmation of truth of what he was taught.  He expressed his relief and joy as he learned about The Plan of Salvation and the knowledge of where we were before we were born on this earth, our purpose of being here, and where we go and what happens after we die.

Elder Folland and President Erekson have become biking buddies.  It is a necessary stress relief for both.  Sister Erekson and I join them frequently,  but only for more moderate lengths and conditions.  There are some nice bike trails here!  Their most recent adventure was a part of the Waikato River Trail.  It has five sections for a total of 103 kilometres.   They rode 12 kilometres and then returned back to their starting point for a round trip of 24 kilometres.

Sister Erekson and I took the opportunity for a nice walk while our husbands were biking on Saturday.   We walked Till's Lookout to the back entrance of the Arboretum, and then continued our walk through the Arboretum.  It is a beautiful, peaceful place, with ponds, a wide variety of trees, and lots of chickens and ducks.  We met a lady with a beautiful turquoise Quaker parrot on her shoulder.  We asked if we could take her picture and she complied.  I've posted a few pics.

Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.  I love these words from a song I've known since I was a young child.  I just listened to the group Gentri performing this with the Tabernacle Choir.  As I seek inner peace, I hope that in my small way, I can spread that peace to others.

Love,
Elder and Sister Folland
